A new off-campus freshman residence opened just one block from The University of Texas, the Callaway House comes in at 17 stories, 585,000 square feet, and features 219 fully furnished units. This premier facility features a secure building entrance, 24-hour courtesy desk, recreational lounge, on-site dining, private dining, study rooms, reserved garage parking with controlled access, fitness center, rooftop pool, and a premium efficiency Daikin VRV\/VRF HVAC system provided by DXS.<\/p>\n
The goal of the project was to incorporate a quiet system for the student housing while also providing enough energy efficiency to save the facility money. As the basis of design, DXS was able to meet all these goals due to the VRF system\u2019s high efficiency and flexibility and the proven success of VRF on other high-rise projects.<\/p>\n
Installed were 20 Daikin heat recovery units and four heat pump units, totaling 345 tons of heat recovery and 36 tons of heat pump. These units were installed on floors 7-17 in all the living spaces and study rooms. Plus, 252 ducted fan coil units were installed throughout the facility and an Intelligent Touch Manager for remote access for the maintenance manager to monitor the operation of the equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
