The Ottawa Salus Corporation is an organization that provides housing and mental health support services to individuals. Ottawa Salus has been operating for over 40 years in the Ottawa region and has grown to 9 apartment buildings, a single-family home, and two shared-living homes.

Ottawa Salus decided to build an affordable housing building with Passive House certification in mind. Additional cooling was required to keep the building’s community comfortable during the summer season, with a requirement for a high-efficiency solution.

DXS worked with Smith + Andersen & HTS to study and propose options for additional cooling for this building. HTS Controls provided the control integration with the existing HVAC equipment.

DXS supplied the following equipment:

• 7 Daikin single-phase air-cooled VRV heat pump systems totaling 24 tons of cooling
• 42 Daikin Indoor wall-mounted units
