Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is the Government of Canada department responsible for protecting and conserving our national heritage and ensuring a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for present and future generations.
ECCC was looking to upgrade its existing energy infrastructure in an effort to reduce its annual energy consumption and carbon emissions. The new system is a high-efficiency variable flow water loop that utilizes VRV heat recovery technology and Daikin T-series variable water flow logic. The VRV systems are able to recover heat from cooling zones to heating zones, wasting less energy in shoulder seasons. Being a water source system, the variable water flow logic allows for more efficiency at part load from the water loop on top of the refrigerant loop. This configuration is a great model for a high-efficiency heating and cooling system designed to allow for the addition of future zones.
