Simcoe County School Board was interested in upgrading the existing water-source heat pump system at the Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School. The objective was to replace the water-source heat pumps with a more energy-efficient, quieter system. DXS worked alongside John Angus and Associates to design a water-cooled VRV solution capable of integrating with the existing hydronic infrastructure at the school. The retrofit is primarily a ductless water-cooled VRF system, with certain areas requiring custom VRV-compatible air handling units to meet space and airflow requirements. The VRV solution also features modulating water control valves to vary flow based on load and reduce the total energy consumption of the building. With only a brief window in the summer to finish the work before the school was occupied, Western Mechanical, Concept Air, and DXS delivered and installed this system while adhering to the tight deadlines.
This project included 100 tons of water-cooled VRV heat pumps and Heat Recovery systems.
