Tilden Arts Center sought to electrify its HVAC system by eliminating natural gas usage in favor of high-efficiency heat pump technology. A complete all-electric solution was presented using Daikin Emerion VRV systems, along with a full building controls upgrade. This package supported the college’s goal of transitioning to more sustainable mechanical systems.
The project involved replacing DX and hot water coil components in large existing air handling units with cold climate Daikin Emerion VRV Heat Pump Systems. This upgrade enabled the removal of gas-fired boilers while meeting performance and efficiency targets. Older unit ventilators were replaced with new, all-electric models driven by the same Daikin VRV Heat Pump Technology.
DXS supplied the following equipment:
208-tons Daikin Emerion VRV Heat Pump Condensing Units tied to VRV Coils in existing air handling units
10-ton Daikin Emerion VRV Heat Pump Condensing Units tied to Daikin Applied Unit Ventilators with VRV Coils
3-ton Daikin Single-Phase VRV Heat Pump System
23x 0.75-ton R32 Wall Mount Mini-Split Systems
