Energy efficiency was a primary goal for Boeing in choosing an air conditioning system for their new maintenance facility in San Antonio. Boeing was initially looking for a chilled water system, but the prominent use of VRF technology by Boeing in other countries led them to compare the systems and choose VRF based on cost, energy efficiency, and ease of maintenance.

DXS was chosen as the basis of design for this project based on their superior warranty, part availability, training, and local support staff. DXS provided two Daikin VRV III systems with a mixture of heat recovery and heat pumps totaling 92 tons. Both systems also incorporated Daikin dedicated outdoor air systems and BACnet controls.
